My Long Time Goal

For some time now I have this goal or some would say crazy idea, to Surf, Water Ski, Skateboard and Snow Ski all in the same day. These high energy sports have at different times in my life, been a big part of my life. Why not do them all in one day. Over this last year and as I approach 50, I've been thinking it's about time to check this goal off of my list. When I started to plan how I was going to pull this off; the schedule, the day, the lack of snow or a mountain in Florida etc. and of course after I got the go ahead from my wife, I felt something was missing. Accomplishing any goal is always a good thing, but it can mean so much more if there is a real purpose behind it. I found my purpose…

My Goal Now Has a Purpose

While watching this years College Football Championship, there was a segment that talked about the Wounded Warrior Project and how this organization helps our wounded soldiers that come back from the battle field not in the same shape as when they got there, either physically or mentally. As I watched and listened it made me think about how much our soldiers really sacrifice for us, in the name of freedom. Sacrifices that a lot of us probably don't think about in our daily lives. That night I went to the "Wounded Warrior Project" website to see what they were all about. I couldn’t believe all the different programs and service's this organization provides for our wounded soldiers. After reading a number of detailed stories of when and how these soldiers were wounded, and how the "Wounded Warrior Project" tries to help them get back to some sort of normalcy, I knew my long time goal, could now have some purpose.

Fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project

My goal now is to bring as much awareness and of course raise some money, for this very hard working and deserving organization the "Wounded Warrior Project". The idea is to combine a long time goal and put purpose to it with a fundraiser. It will be like one of those Walk a Thon’s, but with out all that hard walking. I am asking you to pledge to this cause, in one of two ways; you can make one pledge per each event I accomplish - Surfing, Water Skiing, Skateboarding, or Snow Skiing or make one total pledge for the day. This can be done by clicking on the Pledge link. The Pledge Page also explains what I will do on each event, in order to get your support. When it comes time to donate your pledge, you will be able to do it directly through the Wounded Warrior web site or give it directly to me in a check written out to Wounded Warrior or cash. I will track all donations and will be able to provide a letter from Wounded Warrior for your tax deduction. Remember I'll soon be 50, so pledge a lot, I might not be able to do it.

Soon after the day of the event, I will post pictures and hopefully video of everything I was able to accomplish to get your support for the Wounded Warrior Project, to this web site. I will also add some commentary of what I hope to be a very exciting, and I’m sure very tiring and rewarding day.
